Intuit Dome Named USGBC California’s 2025 Project of the Year

Intuit Dome has received USGBC California’s 2025 Project of the Year award. The citation was announced yesterday, and will be presented at the organization’s 21st Annual California Green Building Awards & Green Gala in Hollywood, California on December 10th.

In their announcement, USGBC California applauds Intuit Dome for being “the first professional sports venue to achieve LEED Platinum. As a fully electrified venue that also embraced community impact, Intuit Dome moved the needle significantly for sports and entertainment complexes.” The 1.14 million square foot, 18,000-seat arena is the new home to the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, and features state-of-the-art practice and training facilities, private offices and public gathering spaces, including indoor and outdoor basketball courts. Energy efficiency influenced every aspect of the building, including its use of PTFE and ETFE panels to modulate wind, sun and rain.

The arena integrates PTFE mesh, PTFE laminate, and fritted ETFE panels (above).

ETS collaborated with the project team to design and engineer Intuit Dome’s 242,300 square feet of tensile facades. Once panel geometries, connections and structural requirements were resolved, ETS fabricated and installed the arena’s secondary steel frames, the atrium’s single-skin ETFE panels, the plaza’s PTFE membrane and AESS trellis, and the escalator’s ETFE canopies.

USGBC California is a 501(c)3 non-profit and member-based organization whose vision is to transform California’s built environment into a more sustainable, resilient and equitable place for all. Their annual California Green Building Awards honors movers and shakers across the state’s green building industry.
