The south end zone expansion at Doak Campbell Stadium enhances the game-day experience and introduces premium seating opportunities for Florida State University. The project centered on the addition of a new club-level deck, expanding the stadium’s capacity with over 6,000 premium seats and amenities, reinforcing the stadium’s role as a premier collegiate athletics venue.

The expansion introduces a new elevated deck and two identical canopies that integrates with the existing stadium. The mast-supported tensile membrane grandstand canopies serve as the defining architectural and functional element of this upgrade. Constructed from PTFE membrane, the canopies provide weather protection while maintaining a lightweight and visually refined profile. The use of tensioned membrane technology, supported by a system of steel and cables, allows the canopy to achieve long spans with minimal structure, enhancing both sightlines and the overall fan experience.

ETS was responsible for the design, engineering, fabrication and installation of 24,930 square feet of grandstand canopy systems. By refining the interaction of the membrane, steel supports, and cable system, ETS achieved an optimized solution that met project goals for performance and budget. Installation was completed ahead of the Seminoles 2016 football season.
