FabriTec has recently installed a wave arched, highrise canopy on the rooftop of a new residential development in Vancouver, Canada called “The Duke”. The main goal of this project was to set a new standard for the rental properties in the Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood.
The canopy will be sitting on top of the 14-story apartment complex and provide an open space with fresh air within the residential complex; in other words, the canopy will provide shade to the courtyard atrium on the first floor from the roof. This will also fill the atrium with beautiful natural light while protecting residents from harmful sun rays, a benefit only provided by tensile membrane structures.
Duke Condo’s Rooftop Canopy Rendering
This LEED Gold development will incorporate a dramatic public art aspect. Inspired by European architectural design, the residential component is comprised of 201 modern rental units with a 4,925-square-foot ground floor retail component. Construction began in June 2015 and is near completion.
Another rooftop canopy designed and built by FabriTec can be seen atop the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami, Florida.
