North America’s leading design/build contractor specializing in tension fabric structures, is collaborating with SWT Design on the design, engineering and construction of a large tension fabric structure resembling a “bat wing” in phase one of the CORTEX Commons development with includes a central park and street and sidewalk improvement.
Part of a larger mixed use development project, the CORTEX Commons is situated on the site of an 8.4 acre tech hub known as the CORTEX Innovation Community, offering custom lab and office space, proximity to world-class research institutions, a highly-trained tech workforce, and access to venture capital. The centrally located green space and Pavilion, designed in part by SWT Design, will accommodate large events, all with a high-tech, science-oriented design aesthetic.
The structure is an open-air canopy with three (3) columns supporting 2,445 square feet of PVC architectural membrane. Scheduled for installation by FabritTec LLC in the second quarter of 2015, this structure is sure to serve the Cortex community as a unifying symbol of its inventiveness and creativity. Regular project updates including photography and video are posted semi-regularly here on the FabriTec Structures blog and social media network including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ & Flickr.
