The Redmond Technology Station Pedestrian Bridge has received the Associated General Contractors (AGA) of Washington chapter’s Grand Award for Construction Excellence. The citation was announced yesterday at the 2025 Build Washington Awards event in Bellevue, Washington. The award is the organization’s highest project honor.
In the announcement, AGA of Washington notes the project’s innovative design and construction “raises the bar for public infrastructure projects.” The 1,100-foot bridge provides separated lanes for cyclists and pedestrians to cross a major state highway, connects an existing multi-use trail system and light rail station, and links Microsoft’s east and west campuses.
ETS provided design-assist services for the project’s PTFE membrane and architecturally exposed structural steel that protects users from the elements. It’s design geometry required each bay to be unique, which in turn required each structural steel component, each membrane cable assembly, and each of the 33 PTFE membrane assemblies to also be unique. A custom lighting ring detail illuminates the underside of the PTFE membrane for use at night.
AGC of Washington is the state’s largest and oldest commercial-construction trade association. The annual Build Washington Awards recognize the accomplishments of its organization members and reflect on the projects and people that bring Washington communities together.
