FabriTec Structures joins Grimshaw Architects and Skanska USA Building in the design and construction of a frame-supported PTFE tension fabric structure atop the new Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science in Miami-Dade County. The new museum facility is being built to LEED standards with the ability to harvest energy from the water, sun and wind generating power to exhibits that include a 600,000-gallon aquarium, 3-D planetarium, cafes, and other interactive exhibits.

The Frost Museum of Science came up with the idea to make a $325 million move to the Miami waterfront, to better serve and educate their visitor. The museum was first envisioned some 20 years ago to replace the much smaller facility that had been receiving visitors in Coconut Grove, south of downtown, since 1960.
