In May 2015, construction on a steel arch-supported polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tensile membrane stage canopy concluded as part of the ongoing construction of the new Waterway Square Place development in Woodlands, TX.
Development of the Waterway Square Place includes a new Westin Hotel, a permanent performance stage, and a pedestrian bridge – the only pedestrian bridge to span the Waterway. The pedestrian bridge and performance stage are the latest features added to the Waterway Square district of Town Center and were completed in the first quarter of 2016. Enclos Tensile Structures was hired to design, engineer, fabricate, supply, and install the steel structure and cabling that supports the stage canopy with a total fabric surface area of approximately 595 square feet. All steel fabrication was completed in Enclos’s 80,000-square-foot fabrication plant in Dallas.
Another Enclos-designed and built stage tension structure Woodlands residents might be familiar with is the iconic Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, completed in 2009 in collaboration with Horst Berger Architects and Fretz Construction.
